ZOP and ZUP exams at Lazne Belohrad 2001 summer camp
Author: Jana_Schubertova, Translation: Przemek (May 15, 2002 - 04:06 PM)
Sport EN Exams that take place on summer camps are a good pretext to show the doghandler's abilities and dog's talent.. This year were added: ZOP - dog's obedience exam (zkouska ovladatelnosti psa) and ZPU 1,2 - working dogs exam of 1. and 2. degree (zkouska pracovni upotrebitelnosti psa 1.a 2. stupne). Above all the ZOP exam is well known as the easiest to pass. It should be a base for further work with the dog.

ZOP exam was organisated on Thuesday 08/07/2001, achievements of our dogs were being assessed by the judge, Mrs. Jana Svobodová. One could notice, that she judged less strict than ZPU 1 which took place at Thursday. She tolerated very common delays of the dogs while heeling, slow reactions to "sit-down-stay" commands. It should be mentioned that most of the dogs were well prepared and only a few left the place while checking behavior of dog left alone. Unpleasant area and carring of the dogs passed without problems. One could notice a big number of bitches in heat but the handlers came with this uncomfortableness into their own.

Encouraged by the successes from Tuesday most of us decided to apply on Thursday for ZPU 1. Most of the dogs were young and just passed the ZOP exam. The judge was nice but she was surprised because of the number of applied dogs - 19. The results was not so perfect, there were problems with barking, aport and obedience. It could be seen that the dogs were tired already and less concentrated.

Despite it the exams showed that the most of czechoslovakian wolfdogs are well trained and ready for a longer effort as long as they stay under control of their handlers. I hope that similar exams will become a tradition of the camps and work with dogs will find more fans among other CzW owners.
