Club dog show Zirndorf (D) 2.6.2002
Author: Pavel, Translation: Przemek (Jun 04, 2002 - 10:57 AM)
Dog shows

On 02.06.2002 in a small town Zirndorf near to Nürnberg took place 7. CzW club dog show in Germany. Traditionaly, and this time too, it was organised together with Saarlos Wolfhond club. The dog show was the crown of two day agenda which acted out on a beautiful area of Old German Shepherd Dog Club based also in Zirndorf.
The first day (01.06.2002) was dedicated to training, behavior tests and most of all to entertainment with dogs. All participants spent the evening at grill. There were many things to talk about and new contacts have been established, as it's usual for such occasions.
On the second day began the dog show. Invited as a judge was Walter Schicker who can be seen at some dog shows in our country (but not by CzW).

Total 20 CzWs were showed and in breeding competitions: 3 couples. It's not my goal to criticize or comment widely quality of judgement. But it has to be mention that traditionaly during the judgement inexperience of foreign judges was visible. Mr. Schicker, however, tried to assess dogs as good as possible. He payed attention to every assessment and his real efforts were visible. That that in some cases it was not so good as it should be (for example: my Hoky received excellent 2. and res. CAC although he should be in group of loosers :o) ) is in reality only a result of insufficient experience with our breed. Despite it I have to say that everybody was leaving the ring in a good mood on which a casual atmosphere free of pride of other participants had big influence. Everyone, most of all, came just to meet with friends and new CzW owners and to show their dogs. Individual judgements and places were minor things. And so, I think, it should be on every dog show. One can only sigh and hope that similar "fresh wind" will arrive also at our place. And the results? BOB was given to Jolly z Molu Es that at the same time won final competitions and comparision with best Saarlos and became the winner of the dog show.

Before the end one meaningful experience. At the dog show came relatively many visitors with children. Children walked among dogs which were off-leash. It made a good impression on me that every even smallest child which came up to us asked first whether it may stroke the dog. That included also children in kindergarten age. Children attitude to animals stays probably in Germany on higher level than in our country.

Beautiful weather, perfect organisation, friendly atmosphere, very well equipped area and nice people made this year dog show one of the best events organised by German CzW club. Thanks goes to all organisators and exactly to Christiane Schröder and Alex Windl who should receive A+ grade for the organisation. And in the end to local Old German Shepherd Dog Club. We are already looking forward to the 8. club dog show in year 2003.
