Puppy Mill in the USA
This post is a warning to all breeders:
While there are many puppy mills in the US, recently is one called to my attention called “Right Puppy Kennels”. This is a kennel already known to both “Tamaskan” and Shiba Inu breeders in the USA for fraudulent practices, poor kennel management, husbandry and breeding practices. A formal complaint was lodged about this kennel with the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 2009 for poor breeding practices including inability to prevent accidental litters between dogs and mixes (and selling the mixes/accidents anyway). The operators of this kennels is father-daughter team Kevin Settineri and Danielle Settineri. The kennel is in Salisbury, North Carolina, USA. This kennel has obtained a CsV puppy from Americani Kennels by fraud – lying about his name, which might have showed up in background checks. He has claimed by e-mail that he is unemployed. Running a commercial kennel is not ‘unemployed’. He has set up websites to smear other owners and breeders, and is a suspect behind the poisoning of several dogs of another breeder. Sales are largely done by simply sending the dog by airplane to their new home, ordered online. The dogs have no health testing, titles, nor in many cases, even pedigree. Genetic illnesses, bacterial infections common to overcrowded kennels, and poor health of puppies have been reported publicly by multiple persons. Do NOT send any dogs to this kennel. Right Puppy has already stated intentions to import other CsVs from Europe. Whoever sends dogs to the mill WILL see their lines abused and populated widely in under sub-par breeding conditions illegal in parts of the world. Be very careful as they are now also scouting for other people to purchase dogs for them knowing that they are now ‘blacklisted’. PLEASE attempt to contact persons involved in the national breed club so they can do home-checks or background checks on your behalf. They themselves have written the following regarding their husbandry and breeding of Shiba Inu: “…we are not claiming to be the best breeder in the industry. …There are many exceptional breeders throughout the United States who are loving families and who treat their Shibas like family. We are not trying to compare ourselves with them ...” Be warned.
