Default A Christmas story

Here is a story from the italian forum
http://www.wolfdog.org/php/index.php...iso+cacciatori

This happened at the end of november...

PRIMIERO - When the blow left from one of the two hunters’ rifle; when the blow ripped Zampa's chest, a czechoslovakian wolfdog puppy, not yet one year old; when those two hunters has gone away, such as nothing was happened... what they left behind? Let them watch the photo of Zampa, happy, alive with Mathias, a child only 10 years old, whom they, with their gun, in a moment, have stolen the joy, the affection, the confidence. It happens in a weekend of hunting. But this is not hunting. I'ts late afternoon, on the mountain of the “Zocaril”, four kilometers from the center of Siror, on the way to Saint Martino di Castrozza. Here, in a mountain farm, the Marinoni family lives from nearly one year. Father Massimo, mother Laura and Mathias. Leaving Venice, life brought them in that place, because the high humid of the wood is suitable for Mathias’ health. He goes to school, his mother guards the house, his father handle its horses. That day Laura, with the dogs, is in the wood between the house and the road. Zampa, quickly, ahead; behind the other dog, Bel, a “mountain of the Pyrenees”, enormous white dog. Hush is shaken from a shot. Bel is howling as it has never done. Laura feels the shoot is really nearest; she asks herself if she could have been hit too. Zampa were about 50 meters ahead, already on the road. They have hit him from three meters. Zampa was probably going towards the two men, been breeded in confidence with the man. The bullet, shot from a deer hunting rifle, is heavy and devastating. Wounds irreversible. A neighbour run on the road, just in time to see the hunters go away on a white car. If also the dark had drawn them in deceit, why not to stop themselves and not to tell excuses?

... but the story goes on...

TRENTO. A child of 10 years old, that could not forget its puppy killed from a hunter, that under the Christmas tree has found a new friend, or better... two.
At Christmas time is beautiful to tell also about a story... the story of Mathias, who lives with the Massimo and Laura in a farm up to the Dolomiti mountains, more than 1000 meters height, in Zocaril locality between Primiero and San Martino di Castrozza. They are living there from some time, after leaving from the Venice lagoon, because the mountain air is good for the health of the child, far from the pollution that creates him many health deseases. The dog was “Zampa” a czechoslovakian wolfdog. It was one year old when in the past November a hunter shot at him, a gunshot that left no way out. “I was in the wood with ours two dogs – says Mathias’ mother - when I felt the nearest gunshot and then the Zampa’s terrible complaint. My neighbour arrived and we have seen a hunter, heard him trying to divert us, and then running away with his car”. Zampa was lying on the ground with a big hole in the chest, caused by a deer’s bullet: “There was nothing to do”. The parents of Mathias denounced the episode to the police officers. They have looked for the cartridge-case with a metal detector and still they are waiting to know who is the hunter. Someone says them that the dogs shouldn’t have been left free in the wood, but that day Laura said they were near their house, the gunshot has been shot little far from their house, and above all there is no reason to pull down a dog like if it was a game. The story could end here, but Valentina, a member of the italian wolfdog’s forum, spread the story to the forum and the idea of collecting money in order to buy a new puppy for Mathias. There were many messages on the forum; a member want to offer a puppy as a gift after the nearest heat of the female, but people decide to act before Christmas; so a breeder gave a puppy at half price, and the saturday before Christmas, a group of czechoslovakian wolfdogs’ owners went to Primiero in order to deliver the new puppy to the child, a female-puppy called Waiakin, a name a little bit difficult but online with the “Red Indian” spirit of the family. And the little Waiakin won’t be single, but with Lacota, another czechoslovakian wolfdog’s male-puppy, carried to Mathias the previous day from Marinoni family’s friend. Therefore where there was one czechoslovakian wolfdog now will be two, for the happiness of Mathias. Certainly that wicked hunter, has supplied the right reason in order “to shot” just to its category.

A sad, but at the same time - optimistic story. Happy New Year to Mathias and his 'Santa Clauses'. And congratulations to Italian Wolfdog communiaty for their solidarity

PS. Since several years ago my dog was taken for a wolf in the woods, she's always worn either a red scarf or a bright orange collar when running unleashed in the fields or woods, so that everybody could see from a distance that she was not a wild animal. It works...though of course it may protect the dog only against mistakes but not - evil, stupid hunters who kill everything that has four legs and moves.

Yes, Rona! That's the matter!!!!! We think that it wasn't a mistake!!!! Some time ago I too have been threatened from some hunters, they would have killed my dogs, because of their looking like wolves!!!!!! .....and they were in a wood of my property!!!!!!!!!! Too many hunters are very bad people!!!!!
