Thumbs up Sport instinct

Hi all

Which sport do you think is closest to wolfdog nature?
From what I see RCI is not a good choice. They have a really good nose so maybe trailing / search and rescue?

Thanks

Absolutely trailing/search and rescue. That´s where they feal at home if you adapt the training to the dog and not the dog to the training what is often a problem with rescue organisations.

Ina

What is "endurance sports"? I'm talking about official dog sports.

It would be nice to have a list of CzW who do each kind of sport. For example, I would like to know SAR dogs.

The problem is, if you are interested in trailing and or search and rescue, there are no sport certificates for this and therefor not many dogs with certificates in this in the training section, if any.

What is an 'official sport'? Something you can win titles for?

SAR is not a 'sport' in my opinion - that's work. Things like SchH, Mondio Ring, Rally-obedience, tracking-trailing, etc can be a sport.

There are endurance sports you can title in, like the endurance section of SchH, the SVP exams, etc.

SAR like Ina said doesn't have a title, it's not a sport, but some SAR dogs I know started out titling in tracking sports to train on.

In FCI we have exams for rescue dogs with certificates, competytion, National and World Championship etc. They are very difficult but some csv have first level RH-E.

In Poland only dogs with special goverment certificate can complete in rescue actions. Non csv pass it.
