Talking Is it possible to buy a CzW in Slovakia and bring him back to the UK

Hi there,
This is my first ever post here so hello to all :-). My girlfriend and I are thinking of getting a
Czechoslovakian Wolfdog in May this year while we're on holiday in Slovakia. We're just wondering how difficult this would be and what procedures we would have to go through to bring him/her back with us into the UK.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

All the best

Duncan and Lubica

by the way, I forgot to mention that my girlfriend is Slovak so there will be no problem with communication :-)

The main problem is to import into the UK, you are almost too late now if you want to take the dog with you in May.
You will find everything in the Pet-travel-sheme of your country.

the prob will be with a pup is quarintine, unfortunatly being left for such a long time in there can be hard on the pup and leed to probs training it and socialising, bonding, etc later on. best to ask your vets where your nearest quarintine place is, see if its locall so u can visit it as often as poss, also how long it will take.....
also make sure its what you realy want, have you met any CWD's before, if not i would sugest visiting some first, there not like normal dogs, would be a shame to go through all that importing business only to find out its not what you want and have to rehome it, as its more stress for the dog. if you havent met one, then there are a few over here already, so ask about and go visit some first,,, hope you find out all you need and all goes well, best wishes

You don´t need any more quarantine as you can see in the link but your puppy will be around 10 month when you can enter the country.

Hi again :-)

Sorry I haven't replied sooner but I moved to a new house and had to wait for the internet to be sorted out.

Thank you very much for all your advice. I've been making a lot of enquiries and we've decided to wait and find a breeder in the uk later this year. As you mentioned earlier he would be 10 to 11months old before leaving quarantine and I think he would find it difficult to bond with us at that age.

So if anyone has a list of the best breeders we would be very grateful if you could post them in this thread for us :-)

All the best guys

Duncan and Lubica
