In the eye test results on the Dutch club site are also 2 CsW's with lens luxation.

Nebulosa 15-03-2011 04:01

Mijke, do you know if the lens luxation of these dogs was primary or secondary?

mijke 15-03-2011 22:43

No :( on the ECVO papers is only lensluxation..

for some breeds there is already a DNA test

I have 2 of Baron's pups, and also 4 grandkids...this research is through the University of Missouri - they are now very familiar with our breed. I would be happy to submit samples for my dogs - it would be very helpful to me if we could send a sample from Baron (I think there is info on how to send foreign submissions...). Unless there is similar research going on in Europe?

You know what to do to get Luna's (and Pollux's) samples in - just PM / eMail Sara. ;)

:(
And was he tested before?
How does he feel?
Thanks for sharing.

For future reference, would a CERF exam detect this condition?

jmvdwiel 16-03-2011 18:04

If this exam is done by an eye specialist than I think they can detect the problem. But with a lot of eye problems you have to do an anual test when you have breeding plan, because some conditions can be mist of not yet seen with an eye test.
so when you do the test now it is not an insurance for not getting an eye problem in the future

Baron is total fine, Thanks fro asking.

Eye presure is ok and this is not normal Glaugoma He doesn´t need any medicine in this moment. He was tested when he moves in Finland. (test was clear)

And I hope every females and males goes to the eye test before using for breeding. (before every litter)

Also if you have Barons sun or daughter go to the ECVO test very soon.

If you have older CSW check eyes please!

Today I received the results from Roni/Taabernakkelin Hronsek's (son of Baron) Primary Lens Luxation genetic test. The result was N/N.

This could mean a couple of different things. It is probable that the lens luxation is secondary to another condition. It is possible that the lens luxation is occuring from a gene different than other breeds, and therefore would not be detected.

On Roni's initial CERF (same as EVCO) exam at 27 months, the vet spotted a "suspicious" spot that he believed was from an old injury, and not genetic. He has not had his eyes tested since then (he was bred only once).

Nice news about Roni.

I want to ask where I can do this genetic test in Europe, because Laboklin send me an email that they don't test wolfdogs:
Dear Mrs,
thank you for your e-mail.
Sorry, we cannot do the Primary Lens luxation-test on this breed.
There must be another mutation in this breed, that is not found yet.
Kind regards,
Christina Iff, Dipl.-Ing (FH)
Molekularbiologie
I'm concern about it because I have Baron's son.
P.s.: Dear Satu, I want to see the official genetic test paper of Baron's result if it is possible by private message.
Thank you. :)
