Exporting to the UK

I will be looking for a CSV in a couple of years time, but I live in the UK, and I get the impression that continental breeders are reluctant to export to the UK because of the carry on of crossbreeding here.

I know that there are a few breeders in the UK breeding pure CSV but the choice is very limited and I don't know if the pups produced are from lines which will be capable of and happy to work in Schutzhund, like I would like to.

So that is my difficulty and I am wondering what the up to date attitude of sending good quality working potential pups to the UK is.

I am also wondering if there are good working lines in the UK, and if so, who breeds them (pm me if you like).

I should say that I have no intentions what so ever in breeding and my only desire is to have a CSV as a companion, friend and sport dog. My concern is a genuine one and I don't want to start an argument, but I need to know what the position is so I can plan ahead (or abandon my plans to get a CSV  and stick with the GSD, as I don't want a CSV if it is not a good quality one).

Thanks very much ;)

Thank you Mikael. I have read that thread with interest, question is - are any of those breeders prepared to export to the UK. Maybe the best way is to ask them direct, but before doing so, I just wanted to get a general feeling to what the position is.

Thanks again

Hello,

you plan to get a CSW in some years, England is not so far away, I would recommend to travel to the continent, visit summercamps and Clubshows with specialised judges, meet breeders and owners. You will get a dog without problems if people know you and you will know which kind of dog you prefer.

Regards
Ina

I will try to visit the camps in the near future - to be surrounded by so many CSVs must be paradise!

Great idea! When people get to know you and find out that you do not intend to abuse the breed I don't think you'll have any problems in getting a really good CSV pup. It's all a matter of trust and responsibility. 8)
