CSV Statistic software

Here is the software breeders could use. Video of the tool: http://ametiste.ifrance.com/avi_db_tool

Right mouse button, save file as, choose as name "avi_db_tool.avi". Then play it on Windows media player, or VideoLan etc...

1) find a dog in the data base (ID of the dog)
2) run statistic on the dog ancestors (you can choose the depth)
3) run statistic on the dog offsprings (you can choose the depth)

Suggestions ? Improvements ?

It's currently not online. I'm adding (finished soon) a criteria search, for exemple: you want to see which dogs have bonitation code containing M2 or P5, or Oc and P3, it can be also based on regular expression for geek people. Can be also interesting to add filter like, dog born before or after a date, or dog which have offspring, or more than X offspring etc...

I'm also waiting for Margo or Przemek answer on what they want as Copyright for the tool. I will for sure distribute it for free, with the source code under GNU GPLV2.

Criteria search added, here is how it works, lets say:

- I want to find dogs which have in bonitation P14 and C12, I type in the field: "P14 && C12".
- I want to find dogs which have in bonitation P14 and B12 and have offspings, I type in the field: "P14 && B12" and check the "Offspring" checkbox.
- I want to find dogs which have in bonitation P14 or C12, I type in the field: "P14 || C12".
- I want to find dogs which have in bonitation P14 or C12 or B12, I type in the field: "P14 || C12 || B12".
etc...

Then you have some dog IDs and can run the ancestor stat or offspring stat on it if you want to go deeper.

- You can also use regular expression using the special word "regex:", for example if I want to find all A70 dogs, I type in the field: "regex:[A]70"
Regular expression are really powerful, you can find whatever you want, the syntax is not simple at the begining but it's fast to get used to. A tutorial: http://www.zytrax.com/tech/web/regex.htm

I ran out of idea to functionality to add, I guess it's a good start and can already find some useful applications.

You can get the tool here: http://ametiste.ifrance.com/wd_stat

You need to rename it in "wd_stat.zip" (I cannot host .zip file). Right mouse button on the link above, save as, "wd_stat.zip".

Installation instruction:

1) Install Python: http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6/python-2.6.msi
2) Extract "wd_stat.zip" you downloaded, then go in the folder "wd_stat" and double click on "httpserver.py" (the firewall may ask to unblock Python, you need to accept, a black window is opened the time the soft is running, it's like a local internet site)
3) In a web browser type the adresse: http://localhost:8888

Here it is.
Cheers

Thanks a lot! A very usefull and interesting tool. However i'm not a breeder myself, i'm very interested in statistics regarding CsW matters.

Elf can you say how big the HD problem is in % of the (total) CsV breed ???
As far as the database can tell us, of course...

A,B,C...

Best regards / Mikael

elf 08-12-2008 13:56

We had a talk here: http://www.wolfdog.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9450

A = 53,9%
B = 21,6%
C = 13.4%
D = 7,2%
E = 3.9%

We can expect the real situation is worse because people are more likely to put good HD result in the database (correlation can be found: when you have dysplasic dog in a litter, there are less results available among other offspring).

Thanks ones again Elf, very good fore us to have you :)
