Having just joined the forum,I would like to add a few points about the banning of wolf type breeds.
There has never been a recorded case of a wolfdog or wolf hybrid attacking a person in the UK and the action of DEFRA is probably as a result of KC action and not the other way round, the KC have been trying to get the ecollar banned under the new animal welfare bill based on outdated 1996 experiments, this has now been thrown out by DEFRA and hopefully has done little for the credibilty of the KC.
I dont know how many genuine wolfdogs are in the UK but I do now there are a lot of first cross hybrids and there are currently several people breeding them, yet no one wants to take any action because most are bred by undesirable groups and are too much effort to pursue.
This all sounds to me like the action of ill informed people, much as the dangerous dogs act was, they banned named breeds,so what happened, those who wanted fighting dogs etc simply moved to other similar breeds, put a bunch of civil servants in charge and you end up with stupidity.
