The first crossing were not so hight because also the Caprathian Wolves also can't be compared with American Wolves. You can see it on this picture:
Adult GSD have ~65 cm and the female-wolf is not bigger than he.

For all these years the biggest CzW was Kazan z PS. He was maybe not nice but he is know because of his size. On the bonitation he was 71 cm but the old breeders say he was about 75 cm. And I never saw dogs as huge as he... :P
