^ as a previous sheltie owner I honestly think it depends on how your sheltie is. Especally if he/she is shy then it would take longer to introduce them, It would also be a good idea to work on the jealousy aspect of an introduction. The top dog bit can be a pile of .. to put it nicely Twoddle.
If you are the alpha then BOTH dogs should behave if you dont accomidate for bad behaviour
