Default Canine Good Citizen

Today was a happy day for us! Anthea (od Vlci Skaly) earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen title (CGC). She also went through the routine for Therapy Dog International perfectly, which is identical to CGC, but in addition the dog must quietly allow children to run and play close to it, and must sit and allow a person in a wheelchair and also with a walker to pet and greet while using their equipment. The dog must also obey a command to "leave it" with food. However, dogs must be one year of age to earn the TDI title - Anthea turns one year two weeks from now, so maybe next time.

The CGC test is a very simple and basic one that I think ALL dogs should pass, but the dog must show good character and no shyness or aggression to pass - we were very happy to show how nicely a well socialized CSV can behave. We also got to do a "Meet the Breed" presentation for around 30 people on our breed, so now more people know the CSV here. Of the many dogs at "Responsible Dog Ownership" day, we know for sure that we had the best breed.
