Default Le jeu (avant 6 mois ou pas ?)

A la question jouer ou pas avant 6 mois, Nicole Wilde par email:

"It is much better to play with the pup early on. What you want to do is to teach the pup that when you've had enough, to stop. I don't mean by using force, but if the pup begins to get too pushy or aroused, you simply say, "That's enough" and walk away, signaling that the game is over. For playing games like tug, you need to teach the pup "drop it" meaning spit out that thing in your mouth. That way you keep control of the game - so you tug, then you freeze and then say "drop it" (this is after you've taught the pup what that means so he knows what you expect). Once he drops it I'd have him sit as well, then you can say "take it" and continue the game. This way you are not only letting your pup use up some energy on play, but you are also teaching him self-control and you are actually establishing leadership.

Take care,
Nicole Wilde
