Depends on what part of chicken. Bone content shouldn't make up more than about 10% of raw diet by weekly average and certain chicken parts especially the popular cheap parts are mostly bone. And even whole chicken by itself is not a completely balanced meal. It would be lacking in copper and other minerals that you can provide with beef liver. A diet with at least half in red meats would supplement a chicken-based diet well.

hi :-) i believe my dog is your pups uncle

i would worry ,(as you are new to this )if you was to start raw with a growing pup,i would research more and until then use a 'non cereal' content kibble of good quality. fish4 dogs ,oriejn, acana, totw then you know she is getting everything balanced until you are confident to feed raw.jmo.

eta... are you hoping to breed pure csv?

I usually feed a high-quality kibble supplemented with several things to make sure all my bases are covered. Once or twice a week they get raw chicken backs to keep their teeth clean (raw marrow bones are great for this too).
For optimal joint development I use Ester-C, glucosamine-chondroitin and MSM in their food (approx. 1500mg of each for an adult vlcak). I also use InFlight Coat Formula as a supplement and the difference in their haircoat quality is amazing. I also will occasionally supplement with fish oil (or canned mackerel in brine).
I recently went to a nutrition seminar focused on bitches in whelp and developing puppies and there is strong evidence that tyrosine supplementation makes for easier breeding and larger, healthier litters. I have found that true in my own experience after having used Royal Canin's "HT42D" formula with my own GSD bitch. The tyrosine link was first discovered in Germany's "Auman study" and RC went ahead and developed a special food for bitches from their 1st day of heat to the 42nd. THe tyrosine dosage is proprietary, but I am guessing for a large bitch it would be 500mgs, so that is what I am supplementing.
Good luck with your female - optimal health is paramount for producing healthy puppies...

Interesting though not surprising. Tyrosine is found in high doses in many meats, eggs, and soy items. In a 200 calorie serving of raw egg white, there's over 1900mg of tyrosine. Many fowl (turkey, chicken, quail) in identity portions contain nearly as much. So in a species appropriate meat heavy diet, tyrosine shouldn't be in any short supply.. in fact if 500mg extra is the goal, it would be as simple as adding an extra egg or a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese to their daily food. Cool.

Emm... And do you use so many suplements yourself?
Also... RC is a good food, but it is still full of chemistry...

Hmmm.... let me see - this (or other species of animal) is the optimal food for dog I think...

Best regards,

One friend liked to say, she would love to have a little mouse farm for her dogs - this would be really perfect

Does she have tiny little dogs?

I think a goat or sheep farm would be more suitable...

Well, a dog can eat a whole mouse with fur, digested food, lactating and pregnant mice - and this is a very nice variety You just need 0,5 kg of mice every day. And you do not need a big place for mice farm, and they breed very quickly. And it is a myth that wolves only eat deers and bisons - they also eat snails and frogs, because they are easy to catch.
Hmm, rabbit farm would be a solution, but I think I would find it difficult to kill a rabbit...

But yes, she has smaller dogs

Hm, mice produce very fast, so this is possible Maybe not every day, but still...
Well, yes, maybe it should better be a rat, guinee pig (not sure about spelling ) or - as mentioned above - rabbit farm. Time to move to a countryside

I think this kind of rabbit will feed all of your 4 dogs, yukidomari !

We need to get a breeding pair in Bulgaria - that would solve lots of issues with the pack (humans included)!!

http://connect.in.com/hydrocynus-gol...54c2adf03.html

May be people who have this monster-rabbit also have this fish in their garden- pond ....instead of a goldfish !

(It´s a so called African Tigerfish or in latin : Hydrocynus goliath - but you can only meet and say hello to it , if you are swimming in Congo- river...)

I want to add, that african people say it´s the only fish which is not afraid of crocodiles - and it´s also called "African piranha".

Nice dreams to everybody !

Silvester
