Question csv's and gastric torsion/bloat

My boy managed to eat 2 birds on his walks so far this week, after the first one he was so proud of himslef he had a 'zoomie episode'(which I promptly stopped btw)..... This got me thinking(painfull lol) I know all large breeds and deep chested dogs can suffer from it,but as a rule do csv's seem prone to it in the same way as their 'ancestor' the GSD is?

I have only read that it is a possibility (given their GSD heritage) and accordingly warn people to be aware of the possibility, but have never personally heard of any CsV's being affected.

Good question from Tupac's Human

Yes, I know of two dogs that did get this, but there is probably many more...

There is no statistic on it, but I do not think it is that common

Very best regards / Mikael

I recall an old post in which Ms. Kanavle (who owns Loki Wolfen) said that one of her dog's littermates died of bloat/GDV-torsion.

It is probably quite rare, but it is good to be cautious anyway. My Frei managed to overfeed herself on Orijen granules (she managed to get to almost full pack of them, I don't know how many she ate before she was stopped as I was not at home at the time) - after that she drank three bowls of water and acted lazy like hell. But nothing happened, fortunately.

Good memory. (Even if its a sad memory.)
Yeah my boy Flint's (Loki) brother Balto Wolfen died from Gastric Torsion a few years back.
I don't know how common this is in CsV as compared to GSD but I still take extra precaution (as I would in any large breed) with mine, feeding small meals, not letting him do his "zoomies" or drink too much water after eating.
I'm glad it doesn't seem to be too common in the breed. I was always more worried about my GSD getting bloat til I watched her eat..... one... kibble... at.. a.... time... then I wasn't so worried lol.
