Looking at my own dogs I can´t see any problem as long as the dog gets enough time outside with you. My dogs hate to be outside in the garden without us, they rather prefer to stay inside.

No you don´t. I have two wolfdogs in appartement as well, and it´s o.k. We are both working and when we are not at home, the dogs sleep.

But you have to be prepared, that to get to this point (wolfdog happily sleeping at home), it takes months of training and a lot of patience.
CSW puppy is destructive beast, will chew on anything, break in anywhere, steal your socks, clothes, shoes, utensils and destroy them.. It will pick up the trash and drive you crazy. This will last from when you get the puppy till at least 6 months of age, the breaking and calming point is around 1 year (at least it was for us).
Having the dog outside, when you are not at home, is probably somewhat easier, especially if you have kennel where the dog can´t break anything.

CSW when alone, will howl, till it learns to be alone, so decide what your neighbours will think. Even if you say the dog would never be alone, you have to teach him to be able to stay alone. It is normal course of life that people go to cinema, shopping, work and the dog has to be o.k. with such events. "Alone" means also alone together with another dog or cat etc.

However, the big plus of having the wolfdog in appartement is that you actually spend more time together, the dog gets better socialised, gets more walks (people tend to be lazy, if the dog has garden) and generally has closer relationship with its master.

Generally, I know many people who have CSW in appartement and they do not have problems at all. It is important that the dog gets enough excersise outside - at least 2h walk every day, plus some small ones. Then it does not matter, if it spends rest of time in the appartement, or kennel or garden. For CSW matters most, if it can spend the time with you, no matter where.

You will probably get a lot of messages, where people will say it is cruel to have CSW in appartement or even impossible, however it is not true. Just because they never tried or never managed to teach their dog manners, it does not mean it cannot be done.

Two grown ups and a wolfdog in a really small flat in the centre of Vilnius (capital of Lithuania). And no problems. I am sure my dog moves much more than some other ones, living in houses with back yards

So much great comments to my question i think a can give a Cesko a good home and most of all love, and activity!

And there are a lot of dogs out there that are stock in the backyard and the owners are lazy to walk the dog...but Cesko does not accept that without making some noise! Thats a good dog to me!

Big hug to all nice wolf dogs lovers!

Great attitude in my opinion. Lazy master is the worst thing, that can happen to a wolfdog

predefinito How aboute noisy dogs?

I have had one comment about Wolf dog is to noisy in a apartment and i listen to that clearly i just want to know if its a problem many have with there Wolf dog.
For example Siberian Husky are also a noisy dog but the often make noise when they are alone at home because the are missing they pack member...and thats not right to leave a dog like that of course you must have a way out of that problem before you even get a dog.

Mine can also open drawers and fridge and freezer. And I did not teach them how to do that!

But yes, it is normal if the puppy when left alone will howl. It has to be taught to stay alone without crying and howling. It takes some time, but it is possible.

Hello,

Although people tell you it´s good or bad having a wolfdog in an apartament you have to do what you want. I agree with another person that maybe the dog living in a house with a lot of place to run makes him not happy. I have a wolfdog and live in a house. During the week he does not go out for a walk, because as I have a baby I can´t take both of them for a walk, my dog is a little bit agressive with other dogs. But two weekends at month we go out and my partner takes him to run with his motorbike, the dog has a good time, he enjoys a lot running before the motorbike.

I supposse that if we would live in a flat we doesn´t have a dog, now that we have a baby. Because it´s too routinous taking the dog out three times at day. It´s my opinion.

Hello,

I´m happy for you and for your dog because you have taken the decission of moving to a bigger place. Nevertheless if you continued living in a flat it´s not bad for your dog, the question is if you love him or not. That´s all.
