In fact air-scenting was the main objective for dog selection in the Military Kennel where the breed originated. That's why CSV should be ideal for this kind of work, though probably the dogs are not as easy to train as other breeds (e.g. GSD) due to their independent nature.

I don't think present breeding selection moves in this direction, but I know quite a few CSV owners who train their dogs for air-scenting as a hobby. They don't necessarily take any exams, but spend their time with their dogs having a lot of fun.
