Also, puppies learn bite inhibition from chewing on their littermates in the 5-8 week range. Some of the dogs I have worked with (not CSVs) that were removed too early from their mother have been much more likely to chew or nip at people (very hard sometimes) because they never learned when or how hard to play bite from their littermates.
