Real test use exemple (Weimaraner breed):

"Y chromosomal polymorphisms as well as mtDNA
sequences were initially investigated to gauge the
accuracy of historic stud book information of the
current Weimaraner population in Germany. Analysis
of Y chromosomal markers revealed that three of
nine markers were monomorphic in 34 male Weimaraners.
We identified four Y chromosomal haplotypes
or patrilineages, with haplotype Y2 being the
most frequent (50%) across all Weimaraners
(Table 1). Two patrilineages (Y1, Y3) were unique to
SH Weimaraners. In addition, three different mtDNA
haplotypes or matrilineages were identified, two of
these (M1, M2) were only observed in this breed,
with haplotype M1 being most frequent (67.7%;
Table 1).Haplotype M2 differs from M3 only in a
single position (nucleotide 8479) in the ATP synthase
subunit 6 gene. This exchange appears to be unique
to Weimaraners, as has been underscored by extensive
database searches. Concerning the accuracy of
old Weimaraner stud book information, we identified
inconsistencies in a few matri- and patrilineages
where historical records cannot be reconciled with
the inferred relationships based on Y and mt haplotype
data."
